Results of the 2021 Winter DIP

When we set out on this project, we set ourselves an aggressive goal of 5,000 read-to-me books to be distributed to families with the gracious help of The National Diaper Bank Network and their fantastic distribution allies. Every time we calculate these goals, we try to establish a goal that builds upon the efforts demonstrated in past direct impact projects; we try to do something that is a true challenge, but given enough combined grit and goodness, could be done. […]

The RTI Winter 2021 Direct Impact Project

This winter, our worldwide Fanthropy Running Clubs community is focusing our Direct Impact Project (DIP) on the importance of early brain and language development through the power of reading books to young children from birth. We’re going to collect new picture and board books for young children (target ages 1 to 5) for delivery to multiple facilities that will put them into the hands of those who need them most. THE GOAL: Our community is going to donate 5,000 new […]

The RTI Summer 2021 Direct Impact Project: Period Supplies

A 2019 study led by St. Louis University researchers found 36 percent of people who menstruate missed days of work due to a lack of adequate period supplies. It also found 21 percent of low-income individuals surveyed couldn’t buy those needed products on a monthly basis…nearly half of them had to choose between buying food or period-related products.  That study was conducted before the global pandemic led to lockdowns, closed businesses, rising unemployment, and decreased availability of retail goods. […]

The RTI Winter 2020 Direct Impact Project: Kids’ Bandages

This group, this community, this family of fanthropists has done some incredible things over the years, no matter the challenges. You might say we’ve “stuck together” through it all. It’s time once again to see what we can do when we direct our energy towards one goal: bringing a smile to the face of kids who need it the most. We couldn’t be more pleased to announce that the Winter 2020 DIP will be supporting Noah’s Bandage Project! The organization was […]

The RTI Summer 2020 Direct Impact Project

As our global community focuses on individual and collective safety in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, we remain resolute in doing everything possible as an organization to join in and support those efforts. While so many of us look forward to the Direct Impact Projects (DIPs) that demonstrate our ability to coordinate a wildly successful international goods drive, the risks associated with conducting such a project at this time outweigh the benefits of the effort on multiple levels. Because of […]

The RTI Winter 2019 Direct Impact Project: Diapers

The Winter Direct Impact Project (DIP) competition of 2019 is now open! In 2017, all three RTI programs came together to donate several tons of coffee to the people of Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria via an inter-program competition that became known as the Fanthropy Coffee Cup (which Whovian Running Club has skillfully won two years in a row!). This year, all FOUR Fanthropy Running Programs will compete in the Direct Impact Competition, but since it is […]

2019 RTI Summer Direct Impact Project Results

Short version? We’re not accustomed to seeing goals surpassed at these levels. We challenged fanthropists to collect and ship in school supplies for Simon Says Give, to use in a world record attempt to pack over 8,000 backpacks at the Mall of America this coming July 27. To facilitate SSG with the materials they need to accomplish this, we set some aggressive goals for a three-week period: Goal: 8,000 pencils Goal: 4,000 Colored Pencils Goal: 4,000 Glue Sticks Goal: 8,000 Highlighters […]

The 2019 RTI Summer Direct Impact Project

Who wants to help break a Guinness World Record? Well, that’s what we are about to do!   Education is the key to the future, but many families cannot afford to give their kids the supplies needed to be successful in school. One incredible organization based in Minneapolis (founded by an EIGHT year-old philanthropist!) has been supporting children in numerous ways for a decade.   They’ve been so successful, their “High Five for Supplies” program set a Guinness World Record […]
